Real Wedding: Patty & Tim

Truly, I've never been that keen on orange flowers, although that was until I spotted these gorgeous Karen Wise shots of Patty and Tim's wedding.  The bouquets are just fabulous - such a happy combination of chrysanthemums, roses, berries and sunflowers, which absolutely suit the couples' colouring.  Patty's dress and veil are a vision of simple elegance and isn't Tim's button-hole just the cutest?  Autumn should be all about hips and haws!

Real Wedding: Jo & Carl

One of the biggest issues for future brides and grooms is who to invite, and who to leave off the list.  It can cause incredible angst, but there is a solution, and it's all about taking it boutique. Gorgeous couple Jo and Carl did just that, inviting only twenty guests to celebrate their big day with them at Cowley Manor, in the midst of the glorious Gloucestershire countryside. And as you can see, from these gorgeous Mark Bothwell pictures, it was a truly luxurious day. Jo's dress is just exquisite, and I love her elegant up-do and veil.

Fresh from the USA

Woohoo!  Anthropoligie has finally landed in the UK, specifically on Regent Street in London.  Hugely beloved by brides and grooms in the States, it's now our turn to fall for its fabulous style.  It doesn't just sell products, it creates trends, and is the place to pick up shabby-chic accessories for your big day.

Real Wedding: Neha & Neir

There's nothing like an explosion of colour to bring light to a grey day, and it's so glum out there this afternoon, that I thought it was the perfect time to publish these dramatic photographs from Neha and Neir's big day. They got married on a cold and rainy day in November - typical weather for the UK - but it didn't seem to take the shine off their ceremony!  Just goes to show, that if you add enough colour, no one will notice the climate.  Big thanks to Karen Wise for her spectacular pics.

Real Wedding: John & Elizabeth

Aren't these fabulous purples just the bomb?  I'm loving the deep aubergine shades, and is that a couple of artichokes I spy in the bridal bouquet?  Add in the black detailing on Elizabeth's dress, plus her sexy choker, and you've got a wedding made in heaven. John and Elizabeth married in January, and with winter fast approaching, it's the perfect time to take inspiration from their big day.  Many thanks to brilliant photographer Karen Wise for her gorgeous photographs.

Real Wedding: Anli & Kenneth

Is there anything more stunning than a magnolia tree in full bloom?  The heavenly pink petals gently unfurl, bringing much-needed colour to the early spring landscape. And don't they make the best backdrop for gorgeous wedding photos? Anli and Kenneth celebrated their big day earlier this year, and I just love these fantastic photographs by Karen Wise.  Check out the Chinese bamboo and paper parasols - soooo chic, and super cheap from Brollies Galore.

Interesting Additions

Wedding receptions can become a little predictable - the drunken uncle in the corner, the bridesmaids making a den under the top table, the ushers trying to do the Moonwalk.  Bring back a bit of brilliance to your big day with a few of these ideas, starting with a personalised picture booth.  Add a fancy dress box (fake moustaches, plastic lobsters) and you'll have them queuing out the door.

Give flagging guests a sugar rush with sweet treats like ice-cream and candy-floss trikes, plus the ever-popular chocolate fountains from Ideas Box.

The Vintage Wedding List - Most of us have moved out from our parents' place by the time we get married, and that's what makes a wedding list seem slightly superfluous.  It's not like you haven't already bought cutlery and crockery, plus everything else that clutters up our cupboards.  So if you're not ready to exchange your old toaster for a new one, then register with the Vintage Wedding List.  It's one way to guarantee you'll start your married life surrounded by beautiful hand-picked pieces.

Is It Wrong?

That we love this cake from the Fairytale Cake Company?  It reminds me of how many inspirational cake designers I spotted at the National Wedding Show - you could see their stands from a mile off, thanks to the hoards of hungry brides snaffling free samples.  Don't miss my feature next week, when I'll be trying to fit all the latest trends into one article. Believe me, you'll never think of settling for plain white, plus three tiers ever again!

Wedding Frenzy

Wow, what a day!  I've just returned from an EPIC five hours at the National Wedding Fair.  Two huge thumbs-up to the stand-holders there, I've never seen so much wedding passion under one roof. Loved-loved-loved the catwalk show and inspiration session - just 2 two words of advice, go hungry (tonnes of tasty wedding samples, mmmmm), and wear flat shoes - Earls Court 2 is enormous!  I'm bursting with ideas, so stay tuned for more Before the Big Day inspiration coming soon.  And check out all the booty I lugged home!
