Can you imagine only having four months to plan your wedding? That's how long Nels and Antony gave themselves, but thanks to the help of wedding planner extraordinaire, Kelly Chandler from The Bespoke Wedding Company, they created a truly extraordinary day. Their wedding reception marquee is like something from a fairy-tale - huge branches of cherry blossom, and a sparkling pond. But the pièce de resistance came later in the evening, when a curtain was drawn back to reveal an entirely differently themed black and white dance area, and then another reveal moment introduced a hidden 'man snug' filled with Chesterfield sofas and whisky. Amazing! Don't miss the pictures in Part 2, published later today. Other details to steal include Nels' beautiful David Tutera wedding gown, complete with extra sparkles, her pretty pink and teal colour scheme, and Antony's seriously dapper vintage morning suit. Huge thanks to both Bibi Basch and Crescent Moon for permission to publish these stunning photographs, and for capturing every detail!
We celebrated our wedding on 12th April 2014 at Somerley House in The New Forest, in Hampshire. I had visited the house as a child and always had fond memories. It has stately grandeur but is not overwhelmingly huge.
My wedding dress was by David Tutera {with extra sparkles added!}. It was the second dress I tried on, and I stopped my search right there and then.
I wore bright blue Manolo Blahnik Hangisi shoes for a splash of colour and my ‘something blue’. For the evening I had a Jenny Packham crystal headpiece and an ostrich feather shrug – a girl is ready to dance in feather and sparkles!
My bridesmaids wore Maids to Measure maxi dresses in my favourite colour, teal. They had their hair put into up-do's, and wore little pearl earrings.
They carried bouquets made out of the same flowers as mine - peonies and cornflowers.
My husband bought his morning suit from a vintage gentleman's shop in Kensington called Hornets. They threw tin his brogues for free so he was happy!
His waistcoat was bespoke from David Saxby {however, it did not survive the dunking in the pond at the end of the night!}.
We chose Euphoric Flowers as our wedding florist. They were amazing to work with and really interpreted my ideas spot-on. As it was a spring wedding we decided to use lots of luscious pink cherry blossom – and then cornflowers, hydrangea and peonies.
The pinks and blues were fresh and really brought the church to life, particularly teamed with blue silk ribbon.
Our wedding photographer was Bibi Basch – I worked for an events company during my University holidays and was asked to book Bibi for a wedding.
I remember looking at her website and falling in love with the pictures and thinking,'if I ever get married, I definitely want her to be my photographer!'. Thankfully when I asked her she agreed!
